Nelson Monzón is M.Sc. degree in Computer Science, M.Ed. degree in Media and Technology,  M.Sc. degree in Intelligent Systems and Numerical Applications in Engineering, and Ph.D in Computer Science from the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

Currently, he is Assistant Professor at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, member of the Imaging Technology Center (CTIM) where he is main researcher of the research line of Artificial Intelligence for Blue Economy and Chief Research and Development Officer (CRDO) at Qualitas Artificial Intelligence & Science S.A. leading projects that integrate innovative solutions that integrate technology, data and artificial intelligence for the blue economy.

His main research contributions are related to the optical flow estimation, stereoscopic vision and video denoising. He is also expert in software development and Agile project management, topic in which he is official trainer of the Scrum Manager organization.
